THIS GENUINE ANTIQUE BRASS DINNER GONG DATES TO THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY CIRCA 1910-20 AND IS OF AN UNUSUAL SHAPE AND DESIGN THAT I HAVE NOT SEEN BEFORE. The dish measures 7 ¾ inches or 19.5 high to the top of Cupids bow. The dish has a fancy open worked footed base with scrolling acanthus leaves. The bowl has a smooth interior with shell, floral and leaf decorations. At the top back of the dish is a figure of Cupid seated on a half shell with his bow in one hand and an arrow in the other. Below him is a garland of roses. The dish and base have a gilt gold patina or color. Cupid, in contrast, has a dark chocolate brown patina or color. These patinas are all original to the piece.
